Rainbarrels are perfect for urban survival, since water would be THE most challenging resource in a time of crisis. They're also great for gardens and lawns (though you can't eat a lawn). Plants prefer harvested rain water over cold, chlorinated hose water. Save money and grow more food by collecting nature's bounty.

It's not uncommon for one of these barrels to fill in under 15 minutes. We've got four rain barrels on one downspout and they all fill in a "good" rain. The best way I've found to connect them is at the bottom, with additional taps. That way they all fill at the same rate and can all be drained from one outlet.

@ttitanic121 Soaker hoses are great. I like drip irrigation too. Each barrel is 200 litre, or 55 gallon. Four barrels is around 200 gallons.

@holylok well then i guess you never passed a science class of any kind because if you did you would know that water needs something to condense on (ie dirt or other particulates) before it can fall to the ground, now that is the only stuff in the lower atmosphere. there is all kinds of crap in the air especially around cities due to the dense population. its really funny your last statement because you are the one trolling nor have i ever said my idea is better it is just another idea.

@holylok obviously you have problems reading or arent smart enough to figure out what acronyms are but that is literally what i just said...as well as if there is a breakdown of society (which is what this video is about preparing for) tap water from a water heater is a non permanent drinking water solution and i was saying it is better too drink tap water than potentially poisoned runoff water.

@kateinto Even if there isn't a slope the water will push out due to the pressure of the water above the spigot. The barrels they are using do the job but are not cosmetically appealing especially if you have a nice landscape.
