Unfortunately, the metabolism staying elevated after ANY workouts is a myth. Your metabolism slows down after a relatively short period of time after exercising. What "experts" don't understand is the metabolsim is not elevated after a workout BUT it does begin to work at RECOVERING from your workout and that requires calories.
I've read a TON on this subject. I've even applied most of them. I found what works best, is what works for the particular individual. Don't have much time? At least make what time you have intense. Have a lot of time? Do weight training, then some cardio. Do what works for you. But in the end, you gotta get in the gym baby!
The best measure of the "fat burning zone" is your heart rate and what percentage it is of your maximum for your age and level of fitness and how long you can sustain it. Your heart rate is your body telling you how hard it has to work to keep the muscles oxygenated.
@PharaohII She's a certified personal trainer. I think she knows her stuff. And I'd like to listen to someone certified who knows the meaning of self-control and has maintained a fantastic figure their entire life. Not to mention, she went through a 23lb weight loss and has kept it off and more.
@PharaohII losing weight is not the hard part, maintaining a desired weight is and this skinny girl knows a hell of a lot more about that than fat people
