"Torture, cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment by US police. "The country of Human Rights"? Tell us another joke...Torture, according to the United Nations Convention Against Torture, is "any act by which severe pain or suffering, whether physical or mental, is intentionally inflicted on a person for such purposes as obtaining from him or a third person information or a confession, punishing him for an act he or a third person has committed or is suspected of having committed, or intimidating or coercing him or a third person, or for any reason based on discrimination of any kind, when such pain or suffering is inflicted by or at the instigation of or with the consent or acquiescence of a public official or other person acting in an official capacity. It does not include pain or suffering arising only from, inherent in or incidental to lawful sanctions." In addition to state-sponsored torture, individuals or groups may inflict torture on others; however, the motive for torture can also be for the sadistic gratification of the torturer, as was the case in the Moors Murders.Torture is prohibited under international law and the domestic laws of most countries; however, Amnesty International estimates that 75% of the world's governments currently practice torture. Throughout history, torture has often been used as a method of effecting political re-education. In the 21st century, torture is widely considered to be a violation of human rights, and discouraged by Article 5 of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights. In times of war, signatories of the Third Geneva Convention and Fourth Geneva Convention agree not to torture protected persons (POWs and enemy civilians) in armed conflicts.International legal prohibitions on torture derive from a philosophical consensus that torture and ill-treatment are immoral. These international conventions and philosophical propositions not withstanding, organizations such as Amnesty International that monitor abuses of human rights report a widespread use of torture condoned by states in many regions of the world.

  • Did anyone expect anything else????

  • Thank FUCK I live in civilised England. The BEST country in the world. We have done some bad shit in our past , no excuses for that but, here at home we treat everyone with dignity.Sure, some stuff goes on, but in general, a great place to live. Immigrants, the poor, they are all given food, shelter, and access to the most just legal system in the world. Just ask those who seek asylum, what country they prefer to go to, most will say England. Only paedophiles and child killers should be killed.

  • I can honestly say that I feel bad for those the system screwed ..and put them in that hellhole for something they didnt do ...but I am talking about 1 percent or so.. the rest ...had it coming and if they insist on commiting crimes after that ...well shit ...thats on them...that was not torture by the way...humiliation perhaps ..but not torture... as for the scars..show me the beating...

  • terrible but nothing but compare to what happens in african, arabs or North Korean and Birmanian jails.

  • Then the proud Americunts want to repproach Saudi for torture... Hypocrisy is your best friend.

  • well... those guys on the floor arent the best kind of people in this world i guess... i bet some of them deserve that kind of stuff

  • why they so evil...... :(

  • fuk u all they are in there for a reason and they want to complaint, tell that to the mother that lost a child to one of this monsters ..they should make theme work hard for the rest of their miserable life...

  • Left unchecked, power no matter what country can corrupt. We have a constitution and a process that every American must look towards. It starts with you. The police work for you and they need to be reminded of that fact.
