  • I want to be a financial planner.. i just dont know where to start. Should i goto a university or will a 2 year college do?

  • The best thing to do is to go to the CFP(R)website...(This comment section won't allow me to put the website for some reason-do a search or google and it should take you there) It should give a listing of schools that provide the coursework to sit for the designation. Regardless, get the school work done and focus on getting the designation. Good Luck!

  • @rcdrury1 If they don't have a CFP(r), they don't have a commitment to their industry or their clients. They are simply a sales person selling products.

  • is it ok to major in economics undergrad? and then get my cfp??

  • @airana79 Absolutely correct; however, it is important to note that many of the very best financial planners and advisors do not possess the CFP designation. In fact, many have no designations at all.

  • it's easy to entrust your finances to someone who pretend to be a financial planner so it's crucial to find one who is trusted.

You need a bachelors degree so go to a 4 year university that has a CFP approved program!

  • you still need three years experience in addition to a 4 year degree from an accredited university before you can get your CFP credential.
