Boeing is teamed with Lockheed Martin, Pratt & Whitney and the U.S. Air Force to produce the F-22 Raptor air dominance fighter. The Raptor's unique combination of stealth, speed, agility, precision and situational awareness make it overwhelmingly effective in its combined air-to-air and air-to-ground mission capability. In its expanding role as an ISR asset, the F-22 is making the entire joint force more effective by collecting timely information about the forward reaches of the battlespace and relaying it to other aircraft and command/control nodes. Ongoing modernization efforts -- including integration of the Small Diameter Bomb, electronic attack capability, synthetic aperture radar and the Coordinate Seeking Weapon -- will ensure the Raptor's relevance throughout its 40-year service life.

F-35 is not an Replacement..There are 140 F-22's on active duty with a total of 187 to be built. The F-35 will replace the F-16 & F-18 as multi Purpose Aircraft which just over 1,000 F-35s were orderd in the new Pentagon budget. There are 10 F-35 in service conducting final test before full deployment and production in 2010. The F-22 was designed to replace the F-15 as an air dominace aircraft.
u didn't understand me well. I meant that the F-35 will take the place of the F-22 in combat nuck lines and the F-22 will get the main work of F-16. In the mean time the F/A-18 will stay in the air to AA combats were he controls. F-22 replace the F-16 for now, he's main work is AG (it's ability to carry alot of weight making him the replacment to F-16)
F-35 suppose to be an special Nuclear Weapons Fighter who's developing by Isreal and USA (that the us is the main charge for the operation)' it's need to be done untill the end of 2010. The Raptor was needed to be this kind of fighter but he filed in some ways, So it remains a Air Ground Figher instad of the F-16.
We aread have the B1 Lancer and the B-52 and the B-2 that are all nuclear weapons delivery capable, we dont need another aircraft were its just a fighter thats a multirole as a nuclear bomber. The F-22 is basicy a copy of the F/A-18 but just more stealthy and has a slighty reduced radar image.
u got mistaken my friend. it's a upgrade of the F16 and F15 tohether. The F/A 18 it's a Navy Fighter and the F-22 is not. The F18 is an better model to the F-14 Navy that was 1 of the best navy fighters ever. F18 it's an combine between the AA and the AG.
And the F-22 is not in any way shape or form a copy of the F-18...F-22 has Supercruise and Thrust Vectoring and is a land based aircraft meant for air dominace.
I hope they keep up the production on these. It costed so much money to develope these damn things. And they'll probably be the last manned fighter jet we ever make. Might as well buy a shit ton of them to guarantee air security.
That was the best weather for viewing and recording an airshow demonstration! Coastal Virginia will give you plenty of these flying days in the late summer.
You can really get a feel for the moves this masterpiece of aeronautical engineering can do!
