@Shoen Language is more than words. If you just write text, you miss intonation and misinterpret one's intentions. If you would use the original commercial with a Japanese dub, the body language and other visual cues might be slightly off for Japanese people.
I doubt a dub of the original ad would be as effective as this one, even if you ignore Japan's trademark xenophobia.

@LeTinctoire i think they didn't need to change the actors but just the language.
They seems afraid to air the original comercial with american actors.
-
@Shoen If you change the language, you change the culture. The idea is exactly the same, but the execution is very different.
-
@LeTinctoire this is just a copy of the USA version!
-
@Thsnickaman its PASOKON (persocon - personal computer) a common terms for PC, and yes CHOBITS use that term for a different meaning as in human shaped computer
-
are they saying "persacom" like in chobits??
-
@LeTinctoire Um, ok.
-
@ChristopherDone The screenplay is differs significantly. The US/UK Mac is a bit sarcastic about PC rebooting the second time (esp. US), while the Japanese Mac remains optimistic and cheerful. This Mac's last line is also not "*sigh* we had him, we lost him".
Of course, it's all a matter of taste, but I prefer the Japanese skits. While the humour in all these Mac ads is incredibly simple, I think the Japanese ones are a bit more subtle than the US/UK skits.
-
@RowrChan Well, in the UK one he goes to call IT. Don't mean to piss on your Japanophilism, mate.
-
@LeTinctoire This exact screenplay has been done in the US and the UK, and top actors were used for each. How are the Japanese ones "way better"? O _o
Second that. All Japanese Mac-commercials are way better than the US/UK equivalents.
