shetlands are one of the most strongest breeds.
iv'e even heard a guy with 20 years horse experience say "despite there size, shetlands can carry more weight then clydesdale."
i don't find anything wrong with people riding shetlands.. if the shetlands couldn't carry us, they would obviously show us, and come'n , this shetland was galloping with her on it's back! the pony obviously loves getting ridden (:

It doesn't mind which height a person has as long as the weight is okay for the pony - I have 60kg and I sometimes ride a mini shetty. What should I say? It actually doesn't seem as if it has any problems with my weight.

haha great riding! how big is that little pony and how tall are u? Ponies are the best iv got a little 12.1hh pony and im 18 but ponies are so much fun!! but dont worry my boy is a australian pony (very solid) so i dont kill him when i ride lol

The pony's 10.1hh and I'm 5'6". I'm basically a beast on her. She's at a new home now with lots of little kids though ^^ I know, aren't ponies the best thing ever? Haha.
