  • i dont want to sound disturbing but that aint a tornado i see in the first few seconds?

  • It was basically a 'wall' of rain coming down. I had never seen anything like it before. Thanks for the comment!

  • A two year old shot that? WOW! Amazing job Zak!

  • Haha! Thanks for the comment cag3171a!

  • It's not a fake, but the lightning strike is probably within 100 yards or so, what you are seeing is probably a leader, not the actualy bolt of lightning. If it was the actual bolt, in the garage or not you would be toast if it was at your feet.

  • Interesting! A leader? Well, that would make sense I guess. Thank you for taking the time to comment. But, I'm still curious, what are people getting struck with, the lightning, or is it a leader? I know survivors through my work. Thanks again.

  • in 3 seconds i would be under my bend.. and all she sayd is.. it's a footage... SRSLY !?!

  • @thelime95 if you watch just a little bit afterwards its a floodlight. doesnt take a rocket scientist to see the rains illuminated next to the roof man

  • @REAPER0D derp i mean stringers haha the leader is the main bolt stringers are the sides

  • @Jajaswabmom most of the time lightning will not strike a human. they pretty much have a designated spot its gonna hit determined by the static electricity in the air. that determines the path of the main bolt. the leaders tend to follow what the main bolt and the thunder displace. i hope that answered your question. yes people do get struck by the leader but very rarely do they survive.

  • one heck of a storm

  • Yes People get stuck by leaders . People (like me) also get hit by being in a dissipation. Lightening hits the ground close by. The voltage is so high that just the difference from left foot to right foot or nearby fence or bush, is several thousand volts. That's enough to knock someone on their ass!. Also if you are close enough to a strong bolt, voltage potentials called eddy currents can be generated in skin, bones or body, causing burns. You don't have to get struck to get struck!

  • @Jajaswabmom The strike, mostly over head and VERY CLOSE! , is so bright that some of the light enter the lens from above, just out of visual, and is reflected back into the camera by the surface of the lens.

What you see in the foreground expressed in the lower part of the frame is likely lens refraction.

But by the light-sound timing the bolt came within a few hundred feet of the camera/ operator! Yikes!

  • that rain will fill your pool up in no time if it needs water lol

  • microburst

  • @Jajaswabmom lightning - leaders are a 1 way charge up trying to reach the decending charge, so leaders aren't full currents - but it would be loud...
