Steven takes an important step, but can he stand by his decision?

READ ABOUT DYNASTY GAY STORYLINES: A February 1985 article about actor Jack Coleman who said he felt lucky to be a part of 'Dynasty': http://news.google.com/newspapers?id=VgsjAAAAIBAJ&sjid=1swFAAAAIBAJ&d...

According to TV Guide, Jack Coleman was somewhat uncomfortable playing the gay aspects of his character Steven. The article goes on to say that "he tries not to overcompensate in his private life" and then quotes Coleman: "I try not to strut around like a macho peacock, saying, 'Here's my girlfriend, see.' But I know it's in the back of people's minds. Mostly I don't worry about it. I'm comfortable enough with my sexuality."

In a 2001 E! Dynasty Special, Coleman confirmed he would have been happier had Steven been more often with women. On the contrary, Coleman's predecessor Al Corley (who reprised the role in the 1991 "Dynasty Reunion") appeared to have been very eager to play the gay character and was extremely disappointed when network honchos tried to 'straighten him up' in 1982, which ultimately led to him leaving the show.

  • I was in my early teens when this was originally on TV and I just wanted to kill Claudia

  • @vrymascstud09 the actor that played luke (Billy Campbell) was once voted one of the 50 most beautiful people

  • claudia doesn hate the gay people...It s just sad and angry because she loved Steven and he loves another boy...all here...if you remember at beginning (1 season)it s Claudia that tell Matthew and Blake that Steven must be free to live his life as homosexual...that they are people like all...but it s steven in confusion that marry her making her believe that he is just bisexual,...(in fact Steven accept himself in the 7 season or 8)and when luke dies in Moldavia she says sweet words to Steven

  • Claudia: "Someday I'll learn how to knock first."

That would have been nice...five episodes ago!

  • Luke as a character was a groundbreaking concept for its time. He was open, unafraid, and spoke up in a positive manner for his sexuality. Many of the concepts that we take for granted today were remarkable when displayed on prime time.

  • @juncospuertorro You leave Claudia alone! It's all Steven's fault. By the way I am Bisexual and need to be magically transported back through time to have affairs with all three of the main characters at the same time.

  • I just hate that Claudia announces her cheating and then blames Steven for the separation. Bitch has amnesya!
