The taxpayers' cost of controlling the pet population in McAllen increased from $263,000 in 2008 to over $367,000 in 2010. In an effort to reduce costs, the City of McAllen passed a revised animal ordinance that encourages sterilization of pets along with incentives to pet owners. The revised pet ordinance is posted on McAllen.net. Anyone who has questions about the ordinance can call the city attorney's office at (956) 681-1090 or the McAllen Police Department's animal control division.

  • That's why it is so important to educate friends and family about spaying/neutering your pet. I have several dogs from Palm Valley and they have absolutely enhanced my life. PawAngel......

  • They really euthanize 100 animals a day at Palm Valley? :(
