I am in the process of developing IAD!

I'm pretty sure that I used to have that. I would be online 19 hours a day. Now I'm only online for about.. 4 to 5 hours a day..
not great but I'm getting better I would like to think.

I watch this video every day. It does a good job of keeping me away from distracting web sites.

@Nueroactive I'm not forcing a view on anyone, nor should this project (which was filmed three years ago for my second year in high school) have affected your productivity, but I will say there is a difference between what you're suggesting and a young man spending fifty hours in a gaming cafe just because he can and dying from exhaustion because he didn't spare the few minutes it would take to eat or drink or use the restroom.

i love the intertubes
I don't think people are addicted to the Internet is self. They are addicted to the services it provides.

@Boris247 That is a very true point. However, these services all have the Internet in common and as such gets the "umbrella" of being called IAD.

@crazymaysunrise I would call it "interactive media addiction" to avoid ambiguity. There's more to the internet than time-wasting websites.

@jarblewarble That's an interesting idea, but that in itself is rather ambiguous. As I have not spent much time on this topic in the three years that have passed since its presentation, I really don't know much about it anymore. However, I do know they are considering including "Internet Addiction" in the DSM V.
