This is a 1994 Ford Ranger with the 4.0L OHV V6. Just after the cats I cut off the old 2 inch turn out I had and picked up some 2.5 inch piping and welded a 3 inch tip on the end of it and put it in place. If you look you can see in the video where the new pipe starts. Eventually Im planning on getting Rid of the Cats and putting a Flowmaster in place with al 2.5 inch pipe but this will do for now.

Also Later I will post a Video of what it sounds like inside the cab driving, it sounds alot deeper under a load then it does just free reving.

Also this was a cold start, hadnt been started in over 14 hours before I recorded this clip.

  • @xGODLYxSKiLLeDx666x yes, and it has been used LOTS in its lifetime LOL!

  • is this ranger 4x4?

  • @GoGoggansGo Well it seems to have more power in all RPMs but Ithink it could be the fact that it has so much lower miles then the original engine too haha. But it is on the street that it stands out much more then before so that would make sense.

  • @AllAlaskan907 the mild cam came into play some of the other mods ford did to get the 175HP because the stock ranger 4.0 made 160Hp but made 10 more ftpounds of tourque. I just saying because with an stock cams are raspy at idle. Thats cool that you swaped an explorer motor in the ranger any power diffrence because the explorer 4.0 had more power up top but the ranger 4.0 had more low end grunt.

  • @GoGoggansGo The engine in this truck is out of a 94 Explorer. It was actually just recently swapped over (a month ago) because the old engine needs to be rebuilt, The engine I had put in came as a spare when I bought the truck from a buddy of mine. I dont know if the 94 Ex's had that mild cam or not though, but I do know this thing is alot more "Spunky" then it was before. We kept the intake manifold off of the original engine but kept every thing else on the Spare. The spare has 125k on it.

  • mine sounds diffrenet because the H.O version or the 4.0 came with an mild cam thats the one in my truck and in the explorers stock it made 175Hp and 220ftpounds you wont find info on my trucks motor because my dad had the plant manager put the explorer version of the motor in my truck in time I will put up a video.
