Hip Hop producer 9th Wonder on his trip to London in April 2009. He talks to SoulCulture.co.uk about the art of sampling, why producers that sample are misunderstood by older generations, current work with Wale and David Banner - and why putting his face out there is so important now in an age where, often, music is seen before it's heard.

  • @Flipstaxx08 Just because you own the same equipment doesn't mean that puts you on the same level as him. Just like if you own a basketball that doesn't make you michael jordan, if you own a guitar that doesn't make you jimi Hendrix, etc etc. dumb fuck.

  • New school hip hop producers and beat makers should all take notes on this

  • @SpooksOneske dude who the fuck r u talking to? -nobody cares

  • 9th is dope. N need to debate if he is better, or if hip hop is a genre. hip hop is inside of you and it is what you want it to be. Music, clothes expression etc. The is no one single definition for hip hop. If you do not understand sampling and how it shaped the music then you ay not appreciate it, that's cool. Do some research on ho the music started and then for an informed factual opinion. No one cares about what you think. Facts create credibility. Peace!

  • any one got an ID of the track at the end?

  • @stickmister321 LOL i must be, hip hop essentially consists of 4things, MCing DJing Graf and breaking. BUT hip hop is also considered a genre of music 3/4 of the time.. What would you consider music like Nas, Rakim and KRS? Cmon son, step your debate game up :) lol dumbass

  • @myniakal333 It's not a genre, are you fucking retarded?

  • @stickmister321 talib said it was a collage of music, its a culture but its also a genre, gtfo kid

  • Happy late bday 9th!!

  • @myniakal333 Hip hop is a culture, not a collage of music, and sampling in my opinion, is easy.

  • Hip hop is a collage of music, sampling is the form of taking the pieces of music and putting it on the mural which would be the song. Sampling is not an easy thing to do, neither is playing instruments.. Don't hate on something that you can't do.
