You are protected from discrimination under the DDA (UK Disability Discrimination Act 1995) if you have a physical or mental impairment that affects your ability to carry out normal day-to-day activities. That effect must be:
Substantial (that is, more than minor or trivial) and
Adverse and
Long term (lasting or likely to last for at least a year).
This means that not only people with mobility impairments have rights but also people with sensory impairments, learning difficulties or mental health issues, as well as many other disabled people.
