It is a well known fact that people who suffer( or have suffered) from major depression are at higher risk for Type II diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular disease. Scientists now know that regular excercise is a natural anti-depressant. When I was very ill, I simply didn't have the energy nor desire to live a healthy desire and suffered from terrible agoraphobia making excercise impossible.
