@Guigley You just lost me when you said pretentious, that's the kind of word which removes any credibility from your critique.

It's such a dream to roam the city of rome at night. To bath in la Fontana di Trevi, I'm more impressed that it's so quiet. It's so private and romantic yet in public. I doubt we could ever experience that type of a moment nowadays with rome being so busy every hour. Neverytheless it's truly beyond words to describe the feeling i get from watching this moment. Complex yet adventurous, i wish i could live like this and forget about lifes common miseries.

That kitten is so adorable.

@Guigley well, you make fun of yourself by comparing this movie with today issues, it's just a stupid argument. This is just a masterpiece, it changed the cinema history, as much as movies like "bycicle thieves" (i'm italian lol) or yours "citizen kane"

@Jezzinator85 That's why I said it was probably more affecting at the time it was made. Yes, in 1960 it was a game-changer of a film. I'm not arguing its influence on pop culture, because I know it had a large impact. But I don't think it holds up today because the issues it discusses are commonplace now. Plus, I don't think it works very well as a film.
These are simply my opinions. If you like the film, I respect your opinion and I don't think you're wrong in thinking what you think.

@Guigley Celebrity magazines? Nothing new? Your flat out missing the context. Imagine watching this in 1960, before all those distractions. This changed everything. International film, fashion, pop art, bohemian movements. Even if you want to ignore the content of the film, from an aesthetic point of view it changed everything. This was pop culture. Bob Dylan said so, and Im not arguing with his authority.

This movie is maybe one of the most overrated ever made. Who needs a three-hour film to tell them that the celebrity lifestyle isn't that great? The film says nothing we don't get hammered into us at magazine racks on a daily basis. Yes, the film is well-shot and has some great imagery, and was probably more affecting at the time it was made. Yes, I'm all for a three-hour film. Yes, I'm all for a portrait of a culture if it's done right. This film is just too pretentious and it says nothing new.

Me lembra muito a referência do filme "Sob o Sol de Toscana"
