As a big Supertramp fan I will always love the original. But it's great when a band covers a classic and makes it their own. Who can not love this song and it allows a cool new band to introduce a great old band to new fans. I've turned countless people into big Supertramp fans by letting them hear the live "Paris" double album. It's a timeless performance of timeless songs. I'm glad Goo Goo Dolls has done such a good interpretation of their own. Had I any musical talent I would do the same!

@ PhillyAcecakes73 THANK YOU!!!!!!!! I think both versions are great, but if you like 1 N not the other, SO WHAT???? You like what you like, let them like what they like, N everybody's happy. Typing immature, vulgar comments WON'T change anyone's opinion. It'll just tick them off N start more conflict, N thank you, but IMHO we've got WAAAAAY too much of that already...

@clintonmcphilbin Yes they did. Supertramp lead singer Roger Hodgson wrote it when he was only 17.

Supertramp's version will always be boss.
But it strikes me as sad that people will fight for blood over a song or a band. And what's the prize? Superiority? Pride knowing you won an asinine argument over an internet site? Well congratu-fucking-lations. You can type nasty things on a keyboard! Doesn't this show your maturity level.
People seriously need to step back. Everyone's entitled to their own opinions, no need to spoil it for anyone else. Just let it go.
