Maria the Echo Park Lake Goose - up close

This morning, I read in the Wall Street Journal about a goose named Maria, and the man, Dominic, who had bonded with the friendly (fearless) goose. They walk together, Maria follows his every move, and when he gets on his scooter, she flies alongside. I read that there was a "meetup" this morning at 9 a.m. to walk with Dominic and Maria, and there were plans to sing the West Side Story "Maria," to the bird, as a group.

Who could resist?

I went, and was enormously touched, and amused.

This film is of the bird up-close, with the group nearby.

@KingPaynisback At first I was just going to delete your posting, because it's so offensive - but then I thought - you are so delusional as to think you are correct, or in the majority, or that others agree with you, that I thought that I would just let you EMBARASS YOURSELF. Do you know how crass and brutal and unappealing you sound? If you told your girlfriend or your mother or your sister what you wrote, do you know how ugly they would think it is? I love geese and I had the honor to pet and cuddle a goose for hours myself. Geese have such charisma and personality, I hope many more people realize this and get fascinated by these modern dinosaurs! :-)

@IrishHouseBoy Thanks. Oliver, who you can't see in the film, is the incarnation of gentle and sweet. No warrior whatsoever. I was holding him in my right arm, holding my camera-phone in the left, and having difficulty juggling it all!
