DLR said at one point that his vocal influence was Ray Charles...you can hear it time to time. Anyway, the energy is incredible in this video. ^^*

@ATeam192 Hey I am totally w/ ya! I luv DLR! they tried, and had success w/ some "other" singers, but damn, David is just plain the Effin Man! The early stuff (not the typical radio stuff) showcases his bluesey style. simply second to none! if I had a choice, Ii'd rather pay to see Roth. but yeah, it is a spectrum thing! (which is where I saw VH in the early 80's).

@generationaluv David Lee Roth also had some vey cool vocal chops. He's an underrated singer because of his style, but could belt out a tune quite well actually :) Love Robert Plant btw, but they're 2 ends of the spectrum.

@ATeam192 Robert Plant was the best pure vocalist, however, David Lee was a monster in showmanship and audience connection!

Lead vocals...Bo Derek!!!

THIS IS THE DIVER DOWN TOUR FROM THE SUMMER OF 1983. I WAS FRONT ROW IN VANCOUVER, BC AT THE PACIFIC-COLISEUM. THE ENTIRE FRONT ROW WAS ON THE BACK OF THEIR SEATS, AND THREE SONGS IN, EVERYONE FELL BACKWARDS LIKE A WAVE INTO THE SECOND ROW. COPS SURROUNDED THE COLISEUM, PARAMEDICS GIVING GIRLS CRUSHED AT THE FRONT OXYGEN. BEST SHOW I'VE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE, HAND'S DOWN.

Yer ,I reckon they showed about 15 seconds of Eddie playing in this clip, seems to be the same with all VH early clips saw one yesterday where they showed a close up of Anthony on Bass during the entire scorching guitar solo , WTF ???????
Geez, today's bands are a fucking joke compared to this stuff.

David Lee Roth was so badass that he didn't even have to sing if he didn't want to. There will never be another Van Halen.
