@lilcharlicheese it's her choreo....

Dominique is still one of the BEST gymnasts ever!
-
@iamborghini- Dawes looks "kinda fat" for HER, but she is still nowhere near chunky. Dawes had such a light & lean look in her younger years - & here she had a "thicker" look by comparison. I think a lot of it may be her hair- very short hair like that sometimes makes someone look bigger. Just picture her here w/ that bun she wore earlier - & she automatically "loses" some inches, lol.
Like someone else said, she's probably the exact same size today. She's always maintained phenominal shape.
-
@htownhomie06- I agree with you in that I wish Dawes had started her comeback for this meet sooner, but I don't think Atler was in much shape to truly deserve the spot over Dawes. Atler's gymnastics may have been more difficult, but she was a headcase & deteriorating by the day. I think Bela envisioned Atler not making it through the pre-Olympic training, & being a downer on team chemistry/morale.
Atler's heart wasn't in it, either. Since the story wasn't ending as she hoped, she just gave up.

@YouBetterRRRecognize - did Dawes grow to 5'4"? That's my height - hard to think of this tiny sprite growing up to be as tall as I am, lol. Let's just say that I was nowhere near as tiny as she was at 15 when I was that same age - heck, I was bigger than that when I was 9.
Last I heard, she had grown to be nearly 5'3" - I never knew she grew an extra inch after that.
-
2000 was an off olympic year for everybody (women's) in gymnastics
-
@lilcharlicheese a dead cat pose
-
@boytoyville That was combine results for Nationals and Trials. At Trials, Dawes beat Atler since Atler had a lot of problems there..
-
@tcseeme Actually Atler placed ahead of Dawes at trials. Atler was 6th and Dawes 7th.

Dom was nearly 5'4" at this time (which is tall for gymnastic standards), it's harder for them to be as fluid in their routines than when they were smaller, that could have been the case too, I give her props, she came back in at 23 years old-which is "GERIATRIC" in the Women's gymnastic world~ She gave it her all~AND looked fantastic, too. She is now a college grad and a motivational speaker for the youth.
