the easiest ones to use are the open screw type where the wire enters the side of the barrel and you just tight it down, almost like he did with the first half but not adding the top piece to it. these are best for beginners.

those are different plugs he is using, the ones i use are closed screw type that do look like a banana that is peeled at the seems but not top and bottom. when using closed screw you do not twist the wire because after you feed it through like he did you have to fray the wire on the edges about 1/8 of an inch and then twist the top piece over the barrel.
