Great Crested Newts: Lady Be Mine

A male and a female Great Crested Newt in courtship. The male is very keen, but the female apparently has a headache. The sequence was shot in one go until the SD card was full, perhaps just as well to give them some privacy.

wonderful film!! thankyou for sharing this. i adore crested newts, there are still a few ponds not too far from where i live where they breed....long may they continue to thrive.

Thank you, Brutonschamber. Your comment is encouraging. I love wildlife. Unfortunately I can only film with my dig. camera; my camcorder's format is too old for computer-editing. Pity about the wind noise, but I like the original sound track for authenticity. I substituted the mating video with appropriate "water" music (the Alster is a river in Hamburg) because the wind noise was just too much.
