This is one of the best preserved sections of the (Roman) Antonine Wall which ran for 37 miles coast to coast across southern Scotland ( roughly from modern day Edinburgh to Glasgow). Built around AD 140 and comprising one of three artificial frontiers built by the Romans. Made of turf on stone base. In operation AD 139-163.
