A tribute to the greatest fighter jet ever conceived and built, the Grumman F-14 Tomcat. We will miss the F-14 taking to the skies to protect the US homeland. It might be retired, but it will never be forgotten. Still, it's a damn shame that this mighty warbird had to go.

The F/A-18 Hornet may be the best plane in the Navy right now, but the best plane ever created is, and always will be, the F-14 Tomcat! No ifs, ands, or buts about it.

I love the jet with all my heart and its gone I will never forgive the US for retireing it but I will join the Air Force for my next favorit plane But I wish I could have flown it befor it retired.

I worked primarily on Hornet, and it is a great all around plane, but TomCat is the best damn looking plane ever, and for it's time, the AWG-9 ruled as a weapons system.

It's a crusher. A big, fast and powerful plane. I don't know if we'll see anything like it again. Every time I saw the Tomcat, it scared me; that much metal shouldn't flip around like that. I love that plane.

Ya 4:10 is a VF-211Checkmate NG on the tail that was the paint scheme when we were on the Connie CV-64 together 1978-81.

I saw VF-211 Checkmate TOMCATS chained down to the deck in the grave yard Tuscon, Ariz 2007 they are parked in mothball formation lots of space between them.

No one wants their birds chopped up become beer cans.

Better that than the Persians/Iranians get their Jihadist fingers on them.

The demolition videos are hard to watch and not feel apart of yourself being shredded.

The F14 Tomcat has always been my favorite fighter..It's just ashame that the government has retired such an awesome fighter.

The american government has made a big mistake in de commisioning the F14s because we need the best especially at this time of the height of threats in the world

Man, I agree with you 1000% (yep, 1000%)!!

In 2006 when it was retired it was acknowledged to be at the top of its game. It was better than ever, and took over additional roles and excelled at all of them.
