Dravid Only Came In To Replace Sehwag :: Gavaskar

Was it fair to leave Rahul Dravid out of the one-day team against Australia? That has dominated the headlines for the last few days. On CNN-IBN's special show Sunny Side Up, that question was put up to the legendary Sunil Gavaskar. Gavaskar says that while Dravid's sacking was unavoidable, Yusuf Pathan got a raw deal.........

.......CNN-IBN: The chairman of selectors is a very dear friend of yours and an old opening partner. Do you think he got this one right, the way that Dravid was brought back into the ODI team, and then to leave him out after he did pretty well.

Sunil Gavaskar: There was the Sehwag issue as well. Sehwag was injured, and he wasn't available for the Sri Lanka tour and the Champions Trophy. What happens in a situation like this is sometimes, when a regular player is injured, and somebody comes in to replace him, I think it was the obvious thing.

Rahul Dravid came in to replace Sehwag because the others who are supposedly not so good against short-pitched deliveries, were all still part of the one-day side. I think it was only that Sehwag got fit and returned to the squad and Dravid missed out. That was quite simply it.

this is what pissess me off..rahul dravid is a batsmen with sachin tendulkars calibre..and he is not given his due..the man has scored 10000 runs and in each format..been one of the main stays of team india when no one else apart from sachin was thr..and quite simply the greatest test batsmen along with gavaskar ever produced india..why the hell is he treated like that..

I personally think that Dravid is the most polite sportsman in the world. Look at what he has accomplished in all form of cricket, yet his character is overshadowed by Sachin. He doesn't receive the respect he deserves.
