Johnny Appleseed Prayer Song

Sarah and I went camping with a big group of new friends. Right before lunch, our friend Alyssa asked if we'd ever heard of Johnny Appleseed. I thought she meant the dude and was about to say "Of course I have, I'm from Indiana."

And then I realized she DIDN'T mean the dude when they all started to hum. I grabbed my camera and captured THIS.

I love this song... remember singing it in elementary school before lunch. Of course it wasn't a crime to pray in school then.

At the camp i went to whe it got to " the sun and the rain and the apple seed" we always use to screm " the sun and THE SUN, and the apple seed" because we felt that the song was curse because everytime we sang it, it rained.

We used to sing this song every night at dinner in my family. At the end, I'd always yell out "Johnny Appleseed!" Good times.

We sing this as grace everynight and my six year old son just loves it! I sang it in summer camp, oh so long ago ("71-'78) and have never forgotton it! It's a blessing to see my six year old son break out into song! Johnny Appleseed, Amen!
