  • correct me if im wrong but wasnt there a pony motor type engine on these to help turn over the larger main engine?

  • @Dylan409137 Despite its massive size, it was started by hand from the day it was built, you see, pony motors would not turn up until 20 years after this unit was built, even so, it was designed to start independent of outside energy sources, for relability. There where many aids to help even small people pull over this massive engine, such as a cam that holds the exhaust open most of the compression stroke, and impulse ignition to give a powerful spark no matter how slow the engine rotates
