Richard Mohr was the chief recording producer for RCA Victor from 1949 to 1977. During that period he produced over 80 operatic recordings as well as hundreds of orchestral and recital recordings. As we approach the 10th anniversary of his death we present here a quick micro look at some of the gems that remain as part of his legacy, as well as the legacies of the many new golden age singers he engaged.
Most photos in this piece are from his estate and were taken during the actual recording sessions, primarily by the late photographer, John G. Ross.
This is the first of a series of these short pieces on Richard Mohr, which we hope will be a source of interest to those who wish to catch a glimpse of the New Golden Age of Recorded Opera.
