I've heard enough from all comments, but i need only one clear answer if this camera HX5V is good. Image quality and video. I bought Cannon SX210 in late December 2010, and felt very disappointed cos of poor quality and its function. So i need to change from Cannon to Sony and hope i can get a real answer cos i dun want to feel i waste my money in rubbish bin. Thank you.

So which one is better this DSC-HX5V OR the Tx7.???

FredB127, in one way I like your explanations which I viewed before I got my Sony HX5V, but then there is a lack of showing actual footage.. I let the footage talk, regardless of editing skill (which I lack). but look at my test-zoom-video for the HX5V, titled "WOW! Sony Cybershot DSC-HX55V...". Your explanation and my vid would be a great combination...:)

Hows the battery life?

@chichichimi11 very good. i used the camera a lot on a recent trip to asia and i never came close to running out on a single day. you could probably go two days of heavy use but i can't guarantee that.

Hi, how is the best way to get the hi def video out of the camera thru an editor and into what is really a 1080 hd picture? sony has the pmb software set up to export but you need to convert it to wmv or possibly mpeg4 or maybe m2ts. i loose lots of resolution by converting formats. i dont have sony Vegas - the only editing programs i have found that will even work are windows live movie maker and gom player. i would appreciate your comments and advice.

@TERYDOTCOM sorry but i dont really do much with HD video so I have no advice for you. you might want to check out a program called format factory. i use it to convert video but i'm not sure it does what you want. worth a look, though. best of luck!
