1954 American Film Noir from director Richard Quine and screenwriter Roy Huggins who adapted two books, Thomas Walsh's "The Night Watch" and
Bill S. Ballinger's "Rafferty" starring Fred MacMurray and Kim Novak. MacMurray plays a detective assigned to seduce girlfriend of a wanted bank robber. Film was a decade later follow up for MacMurray's successful, Double Indemnity (1944), but truly fails in the lack of chemistry with the sizzling hot Novak. Meant more for the debut of newly-groomed star Novak. Writer Huggins went on to be a highly successful television writer, including creating shows such as The Fugitive, The Bold Ones, The Rockford Files.
