This is a simple carbon arc lamp made out of two motor carbon brushes, operating at around 10-40V and around 10-14A. The light output is comparable to a ~100-150W incandescent bulb, so the efficiency is not that bad :)

  • hi, I often do experiments just for fun :) Here I wanted to see what is the light output in relation to input power of the carbon arc. Actually it's better than I thought.

  • get a huge mirror and build the carbon arc sky beamer of d000m

the carbon arc is a perfectly pinpoint light source, like a laser diode , and thus its easy to make a beam with small divergence
