"Jett Rink" is one of my favorite screen names besides Ennis Del Mar and Jack Twist (Brokeback Mountain), Denny Crane and Alan Shore (Shatner and Spader as lawyers) and the real name of an actress, Evangeline Lilly (Kate on "Lost") ....yep, Dean would've made a great Marlboro Man, for sure. I was 13 when he was killed in Sept. '55 at age 24.

@wodanowitz It was an accident. Poor fella never was able to say anything about it publicly because he was so torn up about it.

There were really only two icons in the fifties when I grew up - Elvis and Jimmy. I remember the critics saying Jimmy's portrayal of the older Jett Rink was not convincing - but then Jimmy was never going to get older, was he? His next film was going to be The Left Handed Gun - a story about Billy The Kid which eventually starred Paul Newman and was pretty good - but how I would have loved to see Jimmy in that role.

James Dean is known today as the rebel star of 50's and an iconic image..He was brilliant in in his first two movies..But I think in Giant he really showed the makings of a great actor. That could easily have given Brando a run for is money..Shame he died and wasn't able to prove that..The movie might be a little dated now and it's one of my all time favourites..but deans performance stands up today!

Exquisitely presented. James Dean as Jett Rink will live forever. This movie was beautifully photographed. The music you have chosen to showcase Dean is quite moving. I believed that Dean was actually a Texan because of his dialect and mannerisms which I have seen all my life in others from my state. He was brilliant in being able to emulate those qualities so accurately. It is part of what made this movie so memorable to me. The windmill scene is my favorite.
James Dean would have been a great "marlboro-man".

I still get sick today, thinking how such a fool as Donald Turnupseed, finished life of such a genius like James Dean.
