Gilbert Arenas scores 60 (career-high) at Staples Center, of which 16 points come at the overtime - an NBA record. Seems like it was such a long time ago that Gilbert had amazing performances like this. This is from his last healthy season - 06/07. December 17, 2006.

  • Haha they claim Kobe is an elite defender yet I never catch him guarding the opposing teams best player, and when he is, he is usually getting his ass cracked. I"be never seen him shut another elite player down so how does he gets 1st team defense every year? Especially when u have beter defendrs like battier and sefolosha getting 2nd and 3rd team

  • @redassasain18 I agree with the part about him not deserving to be in those all-defensive teams, yet I have to say that he is capable of being a great defender. He rarely fills that role though. Yet there have been some occasions - look up a game from (I think it was) 2004, where T-Mac had torched the Lakers for 37 points in the first three quarters. Kobe convinced Phil that he shall guard him and held him to 5 points in the 4th quarter, as well as scored 24 himself (37 in the 2nd half).

  • 80 or 90 man thats a zone 81 looks bugly

  • you really have to have balls of steel to pull that off on ko be but i have cohonas ima end his bcareer bjordon pose on bthe brim

  • @ 1:26 Caron tells Brian, "Let's be team mates on the Clippers."

  • Sign Gilbert, Mitch Kupchak!

  • @redassasain18 Because there is actually no "shutting down" when it comes against an elite player. For instance, Raja Bell, even at his prime, gave up 30 or 40 points every time he played against Kobe. But no one called Raja a bad defender. Jordan scored like 40 points against Knicks in playoffs, but people still say John Starks did pretty good job defending Jordan... All you can do is doing your best (staying in front of them, contesting shots etc..) and wishing they might miss the shot.

  • Lakers need to sign Gil ASAP. Im sure Mike Brown remembers how deadly he can be

  • whoa @ 2:18 does the broadcaster say "and Gilbert Arenas is on his way to 60" even though at that moment he only had 14 pts?

  • Rondo<CP3<DRose<DWilliams<Gilbert (in his prime)

  • @redassasain18 I disagree Kobes shut down a lot of elite players he just doesnt do it as often cause thats not his role on the team. Lakers wouldnt get any offense if Kobe had to use up all his energy on defense. Either way he shows that hes a great team defender which has earned him a spot on those 1st defensive teams. Theres a reason he was USA best lock down defender in the 2008 olympics. Kobes a dog on defense when he wants to.
