Methinks that what separated Captain Sully from his peers is his experience as a glider pilot. There are many professional pilots who are quite competent, but who lack Sully's experience as a glider pilot. The flight crew took the hand of cards they were collectively dealt, and played them perfectly.

That'a exactly what I wrote. I am sure that many other crews that didn't survive in a crash were prepared just as much but could do very little with it. I am also sure that, if they ditched the plane into the sea rather than into the Hudson, consequences would have been much worse.
