A bug out bag means different things to different people. If I had to bug out in the winter time, because of where I live, I would need to have a tent and sleep system or I would die after 1 night in the elements. If I had to bug out and lived in a place like Los Angeles or San Diego where the weather is always warm, shelter might mean just having a poncho in case it rains. Knowing what you need for the area you are in is crucial to your survival.
The way I put my bag together is that I started with a day hiking bag to make sure I kept my selection down to a minimum. After that, I transfered my items into a medium sized overnight bag that has an internal frame. This gives me the ability to add extra water or other provisions. This becomes my "get home bag"
Why do I want to "get home" ? Because I will Bug-in before I bug out. At home I have food, water, communications and of course my dog ... duh! We have a perfect case study in what has happened in African and middle eastern countries this year. Having supplies at home is crucial to your survival when goods and services are not abundant. You need water, food and many other things I will cover in subsequent videos.

Just remember folks, the more you know the less you have to carry.

A wool blanket, tarp, and hvyduty space blanket can be used not only as a shelter but also a bedroll pack.

I have a Rocketpak Snugpak specifically so that I can carry my MMSS.

I have a 3-day Assault pack Molle style in black.

I have a Maxpeditoon Monsoon gearslinger for day hikes and overnighters.

    I recently picked up a

  • opt for the stainless steel water bottle or titanium. so u can boil water if needed. and ditch the stove. u can cook what you need over camp fire.

  • So if it was a volcano what would you do for breathing?

  • I agree 100% with always keeping clean water with you. Except I have 3 or 4 gallons.

  • Why would you get stuck in your tent because it rains for a few days?

Get some good wet weather wear and rain would be a non issue.

  • @beast12101 That's all I carry in my vehicle...Probably good to go with everything but H2O for 14-28 days without hunting/fishing/etc...To be used after bug-In supplies run out completely..=)
