WGN News - long close

Approximately 45 seconds worth of the WGN News closing theme was played on April 10, 2008, when they had a little extra time at the end of the 9 o'clock newscast. I had been waiting nearly a month to record a long version of the closing theme, and finally I got it.

This is the best theme ever. Thanks for getting it. I've been trying to record one for A LONG time. I heard one a few months back that was 1:30 long. I didn't have my camera though! :(

Does anyone remember the early morning WGN News closing theme from the late 60's that featured a super-high trumpet solo? I can still remember them playing it as they showed night scenes of Chicago & moored sailboats bobbing in one of the harbors as their masts swayed back and forth. Fantastic song. I'd really like to find a copy somewhere.

I love the new theme. It gives the station a sonic branding. Kind of like the old theme, but I think it's more distinguished and more easily heard. I think if they stick with it, viewers will differentiate between other stations and WGN. It will be to their advantage.
