@BoscoW0ng not necessarily true, general dentists do cleanings and fillings and primarily work that ensures the integrity of the tooth, while specialist i.e. orthodontist primarily focuses on braces but still has the skills necessary to practice as a general dentists,

as a rule of thumb

all specialists are general dentists

but not all general dentists are specialists

It is an excellent school; however, I never recommend that youngsters go to dental school now. There are many negatives once you graduate: hundreds of thousands of expense to set up a practice, great stress, overhead is very high, malpractice ins. costs, insurance hassles are huge with having to hire 1 or 2 insurance clerks to talk with people about their co-pay, then a secretary in an insurance co. rejects your diagnosis...best career...become a veterinarian = None of the above hassles.

The Univsersity of the Pacific Dental School in San Francisco is a three-year plan to become a dentist, not four.

if you mean by dentist as in general dentist and specialist dentist.

General Dentist focuses on everything that has to do with teeth. such as putting on braces, washing teeth, fillings, and stc.

A Specialist Dentist focuses on only one type of treatment, for example Braces.
