Here is a clip from a 16" radio transcription disc, the Armed Forces Radio Service radio program Personal Album #1599, which aired January, 1950. Features Mark Carter plus Bonnie Lake, who wrote this tune. Offered here is the first recording with vocals of Man With A Horn, performed by Mark Carter with the Bob Simmers Group providing the music. Enjoy! (I think it is better without the vocals)

Here is a great web page with a biography of Bonnie Lake:

  • Really, the Garrard 4HF can play those 16" records? I wouldn't have guessed it!

  • Just barely, about 1/4" to spare.

  • This is the first time I heard words from the song "Young man with a Horn"! From a 1950 Warner Bros. Movie with Kirk Douglas and Doris Day! Horn played by Harry James!

  • This was probably the only recording with words. Rare, I guess.
