  • What boot is this from? I just got one from 1980 in Germany called Sudden Attack and I dont know if this is it.

ANYWAY, I actually dont think this Stairway is that bad.

  • no this is not Sudden attack.

  • Sorry what is wrong with the version of Stairway? Jimmy sounds fine. What are you on about?

  • did you listen to the whole solo?

  • yea but its hard to listen to it knowing hw good PAge is

  • Well... Page might have been out of his mind and did play it sloppy but I think this solo is absolutely unique - he played there phrases he had never played before and I also think in spite of the way he played that it's amazing and I enjoy listening to it!

  • this isnt even bad dude, its actually really good

  • @pepperc2900 It's not as good as a lot of other versions, but Jimmy's playing is still at a higher quality here than most other artists. I just wish there was another version of this with a solo this long that was definitely good.

  • The best 1980 show was the Frankfurt, Germany one hands down. For Led Zeppelin's last concert together with Bonham, this was a kinda bad way to go.

  • cool

  • i have this boot it is in the car now it is ok trampled underfoot is very cool, but who would have thought that

that it would have been the LAST ZEPPELIN SHOW.

and bonzo would be dead in a few months well it kinda sucks for shore

  • have a listen to the solo from Vienna city hall 6-26-1980, I assume it is running longer than this solo for one ore two minutes :)

  • nevertheless, Bonham´s playing well on that record! Drum work in the background is fantastically done, really, Bonzo did his job!

  • It would probably take me about a month to learn the studio version of the solo but this would take me alot longer because you have to know how to mess up just right

  • my guess is that this is exactly what was intended since that is jimmys general performance level and the rest of the show seems to be played well. maybe the rumor of the fat j was created by him or some loony fan, either way, to adress the widespread distaste of the spin he decided to put on his song. maybe he liked/was focused more on the way it looked or felt more than the sound but likely he was all for every aspect of it when he played it imo
