Peter Weir's name isn't usually mentioned when the topic of great living directors comes up, but it should. His Australian films are utterly fantastic and he's one of the few foreign directors who have consistently put out quality pictures after his transition to Hollywood (personally I prefer Picnic at Hanging Rock and the Last Wave, but his recent works are still good).

One of my favourite -- if not THE favourite -- cinema director !

From GALLIPOLI to DEAD POETS SOCIETY to THE TRUMAN SHOW to MASTER AND COMMANDER ...

A true master of his craft !

He should have won an Oscar for The Truman Show.

why didn't he direct australia? baz lurrman or whatever only did one other good film, while peter weir has done dozens.

Greatest living director? Could be.

Godard is the greatest
