You know - there are no signs about whether the water is safe - kids swim ANYWHERE - even the dirty canals in Bangkok. This river was somewhat clean - but has the farm runoff of farmers the whole way up the river... chemicals and stuff I'm sure. Two things about Thais... Thai people SLEEP anywhere. Thai kids SWIM anywhere. It gets hot here man!

looks like they're in their "pala" uniforms, also known as gym cloth, where they wear them on field trips and days that they have sport activities.

I wanted to do that as a kid, but believe it, there aren't many clean "clongs" (canals) in parts very near Bangkok. If I were to jump into the one nearest, I would smell for days.

Thai kids KNOW how to have fun... and, like east indians - their parents LET them. They are very free as children to have fun most anyway they want. They don't grow up spoiled... strange, huh?

lol - not true - the thai water is fine... yeah, that river is a muddy mess man, and who knows who is dumping WHAT in it. I look for snakes there all the time... not many of those either. hmmm... beautiful though before the kids started jumping in it!

It's quite difficult to see something like this now even in the provinces, because of modern lifestyles and pollution, and also because of newspapers putting drowning deaths on the front page. It a pity, since kids can learn to swim and have fun for free.

If you go to Laos, where utilities are a luxury, river bathing is a daily event for many, kids and adults alike.

Also, nearly all canals, streams, and rivers in the SEA area are brown. Not because of pollution, but because of sediment.
