Three Dog Night must have been a very big fan of Free. Their two LP's in 1970 had Free song's. from

If you like this try searching Jimmy Bowskill...the guy looks just like the guitarist Paul Kossoff and plays so good he impressed Paul Rogers himself. Some guitarists today carry on this sound and Jimmy Bowskill is one of them

@professoricon Kind of a shame really... I totally loved the gruff crackle he had in Tons of Sobs. Totally the biggest influence on my own singing in The Gypsy Bangles!

I know what you mean, but I guess a singer has to protect their voice as they grow older.
Roger Daltrey and Robert Plant may be cases in point.
