Dudley Moore (piano)
Pete McGurk (bass)
Chris Karan (drums)

This clip is from an episode of "Not Only... But Also" but I'm not quite sure which one. It's most likely from the second series Christmas special, tx 26/12/1966, though I'm more than happy to be corrected.

Either way, it makes for an interesting comparison with the trio's 1965 well-known studio cut of the tune on "The Other Side of Dudley Moore", reissued in 1970 as "The World of Dudley Moore".

  • Great, thanks - that's my Uncle Peter on bass.....sadly he departed this earth in 1968. Always great to see him again in action.

  • @MrTerryKay - There are several CDs available via Amazon at around 7-8 quid each!

  • Yes, I was thinking I might have a go at that - cheers, James

  • @UnofficialPixMan Maybe you could write a Wikipedia page, because there isn't too much information on the net about him.

  • Dudley "entre" dans son impro avec la puissance d'Oscar. Excellent swing!

  • This talent of Dudley's is new to me; I knew only his comedy, which was brilliant. The Wiki on him is a very good background showing his triumph over adversity. Thank you Dudley!

  • Love this. My mam gave me the taste for the Dudley Moore trio. Just brilliant.

  • I'm back again to listen to moore... I love you dear dudley... come back!

  • que grande moore! me emociona!

  • @1979saxman Thanks - he can be heard with Dudley, with Sounds Orchestral, on the Hamlet ad, as a session musician on many 60's songs, inc Cilla Black & Dusty Springfield singles, and Englebert's Release Me. Sadly, he committed suicide in June '68 after he came home and found a lot of notes left all round the house by a Danish girlfriend, saying ''I don't love you".......he took a load of pills and called his brother to say he was dying - they could not reach him in time. A great loss to all.

  • @UnofficialPixMan oh i'm so sorry. you're uncle was a great bass player. if you don't mind me asking, how did he die? there just isn't that much information on him.
