Is it true that God is not willing that any should perish? That's certainly what we hear from the Arminian pulpits. But, is that a proper reading of what Peter actually wrote? That's the question Jim McClarty explores in this video.

  • Even an Arminian who believes God is all knowing should realize that that means God also knew both the lost and saved before time and this has to mean God is not trying to save people that He knows won't be saved.This fact alone means that God is only saving those He chose before time,if He's trying to save the goats this would make God not too bright.

  • Great teaching for explaining the Reformed view.

    A perfect companion piece for this is a short video from James White on Matthew 23:37 and the role of tradition:

    Another like this on 1 Timothy 2:4 and I would have something on the "big three" I could share with all of my co-workers :)

    Also...maybe later we could see teaching on Revelation 22:17...preached very often here in support of the view of man's free will in Salvation.

  • Ezekiel 33:11

    I have no pleasure

    in the death of the wicked;

    but that the wicked turn from his way

    and live: turn ye,

    turn ye from your evil ways

  • Ezekiel 18 Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord GOD: and not that he should return from his ways, and live? Again, when the wicked man turneth away from his wickedness that he hath committed, and doeth that which is lawful and right, he shall save his soul alive.
  • Since Arminians do believe in election and do believe that there is an "elect" group that are the only people that will be saved, it's amazing that they don't hold to the same interpretation of 2 Pet 3:9 as we do. It also works with their theology, if they'd let it.

  • great, just great exegesis

  • Excellent Jim.

    It seems if God wanted every individual to be saved He could appear to them as He did to Paul. Paul knew very well that this was a gift of faith. Wouldn't God's love be great enough to do that for everyone who needed it?

  • Very Good presentation
