This amazingly beautiful, both visually and emotionally, movie went virtually unnoticed. When I saw it was the same director/writer of "Dangerous Liaisons...I knew it would be a fantastic film. (The director, Stephen Frears, also directed "The Queen". This movie is no less then perfect, except... it made me fall madly in love with Rupert Friend. Now I compare all my pathetic dates to Rups.

This movie will break your heart. I'd read the novels before I saw it, so I knew what I was getting myself into, but Rupert and Michelle did such great work that you want someone to wind up happy in the end. Of course, no one does as happens so many times in life.
