Bad news for people who like to see the news of the day filtered through parody videos of otherwise obscure German movies about Adolf Hitler.

Constantin Film, the copyright holder of the movie "Der Untergang" (also known as "Downfall") has requested that YouTube take down all instances in which their movie is being used satirically, and YouTube is complying with this request. That means that very soon, all of your beloved "Downfall" parody clips will be no more.

  • The director of Downfall loves these parodies!

  • @tejojo Then why are they being removed?"This video contains content from Constantin Film, who has blocked it on copyright grounds. "YouTube has begun deleting satirical videos based on the 2004 Hitler movie Downfall after a copyright claim from the German studio" Type in google ( hitler videos being removed youtube ) Many sites are talking about it.

  • LOL nothing wrong

  • Those parodies make Downfall famous, I forgot about Downfall but those parodies made me remember and now I plan to watch the movie. And they remove them!? Its only little scenes not the whole movie! And Subtitles are wrong so you dont undersant what they really say in the movie!

  • @Ashkihyena its not like anyone is making money off of it.. and also i never new about that movie till i saw these parodies.. the movie is amazing.

  • @bluediamond2077 It's because Constantin Films are being a bunch of assholes. The director likes them, but apparently since Constantin Films can't make money off of them, down they go.

  • The clips are parody and popular culture. To yield to a frivolous copyright claim is adhering to pure totalitarian madness. For sake of freedom of expression and speech the use of material in fair use terms, such as parody, must be defended at all cost.

Not one to trigger Godwins Law, I feel I must. This copyright claim which blatantly is ignoring common sense is the sort of media power that is right at home at a Nazi ministry of propaganda.

    Shame on youtube.
