I finally whittled down all my possessions to the point where I could fit everything into carry on luggage. It's a nice feeling. Check out the accompanying blog post for a full list of my possessions and to learn how I did it: http://www.ndoherty.com/extreme-minimalism/

  • Hello Niall. If I were in your position, I would probably leave the kindle. Sure, it's great while travelling, but you can read on your laptop and at the library. I wonder what I'll do with all my college textbooks after my masters. I probably won't need them, but for the next years I do. There's only one book that's special to me. It's over a hundred years old.

  • @Sumfera Thanks for the comment. I could read on my laptop, but that's awkward to carry around everywhere, and it's not easy to whip out and read from on the bus. Plus, the kindle is much easier on the eyes :-)

  • Great, this video is inspiring me to pare down. I travel overseas a tonne (my partner lives in Asia) so I want to get down to two suitcases. I'm having a hard time with books.

  • @duke1duke1 I solved the book problem with an Amazon Kindle. Absolutely love that thing. I understand many people don't like them, but the pros definitely outweigh the cons for me.

  • We sold our larger things on craigslist, gave my neighbor the smaller things to sell at her garage sale and gave her commission, took some items to consignment shop and donated A LOT. We feel much more free not having so much "stuff".

  • @FreedomRingsToday Brilliant. Rock on!

  • I think this is great!

  • I'm a man who stills sips the pocket knife into my jeans every morning. Where I'm not around my tools at or or in my vehicle, I'd want to carry a multi tool, but I'm sure that isn't compatible with commercial air travel.

  • @SubconsciousGatherer Stating the obvious generic 3 in one printer can scan old photos into digital files & there are scanners made for just the purpose of scanning old photos.

  • @N1nj45n0wm4n HOLY SHIT, YOU'RE RUDE.
