@samlei13 i truly believe this, that there had to be a samoan embassador....who was getting paid....definitly samoan people are not stupid, this is just appauling, how can someone do such a horrific thing to all these families!!!!!!! poor kids and families on both sides!!!!!!

@epajrgolf samoan folks may be poor, but they sure as hell ain't stupid. although i can only speculate, i would assume they were manipulated somehow into giving them away. the only way i see that this would work is if they had a samoan emplyee of some sort that they used as a form of ambassador between the two parties. once trust is gained between the family and said employee, then they'd continue with it. again it's only speculation

"she cried herself to sleep the first three weeks she was here". this line alone brought tears to my eyes. I'm outraged ans sad. it's probably a good thing that these folks are being tried in the US. because if they were still in samoa, they would not have survived much longer. samoa fa'amuamua le atua

@epajrgolf i know that if being promised a better life and education is what people jumped for. they were lied to as well as the families the children were adopted to. they said that the kids would come home well educated and they would be with "foster" families they told the adoptive parents that the child was an orphan. so all in all both of us were lied to. i think these people used the fact that samoan parents are willing to do anything for their children.

@namikazelover Giving your child away to somebody you have never met or know is not what I would call "doing the best for your child." In fact that is flat out stupid. You could be giving your kid away to some child molester or a nut job. Think about it... You would really trust a total stranger with your kid?

@epajrgolf people in samoa want their kids to get the best education and have the best life they can...people call us poor but we in samoa are known as the happy people of polynesia we care for others and will do anything for them even if it hurts us we will give our kids what is best for them
