Asian Cup 2007 : Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia made it to the AsiAN CUP FINALS 6 times out of their 7 appearances in Asian cup. Their brazilian coach Helio dos Anjos was appointed just 2 months before the Asian cup 2007. What he did shocked the Saudi fans. He picked the inexperienced players who played well in the Saudi league and left out the well established Saudi players. Among the players he left out were:

1.Best Saudi player: Muhammed Noor
2.Best goalie: Mabrouk Zaid.
3.Best defender: Hamad al montashri (Afc player 2005)
4.CAPTAIN: HUSSEIN ABDUL GHANI.
5.The Best Young Player In Saudi League 2006-2007 : Hassan Mouath
6.The Only Saudi Player playing outside Saudi Arabia : Naif AlQadi (Qatar)
7.Our Main Playmaker in the last 2 years : Mohamed Shalhoub

And Saudi fans and critics said that Saudi Arabia would be doomed in Asian cup 2007. But brazilian coach Helio dos Anjos proved all his critics wrong by taking Saudi Arabia to their 6th final appearance in the Asian cup 2007. Saudi Arabia lost the Asian cup but it won a new team based on young players. And this could prove to be vital for Saudi Arabia in the upcoming years.
