Aero vs 335i

This is some cruising on autobahn, A7, Filmed from a SAAB 9-3 Sportsedan Aero, 2,8l V6 Turbo with 280hp and 350Nm of torque. Duelling the stronger BMW 335i coupe with a inline 6 3.0l twin turbo with 306hp and 400Nm of torque. Even though the BMW is much stronger the SAAB has no problem keeping up with the more expensive BMW.

It's not like anybody is going to overtake him anytime soon. And even if somebody wanted to overtake his enormous speed, he'd have to drive around 400km/h so he can overtake fast enough.

Sadly, SAAB's V6 was quietly eliminated from the lineup shortly after GM sold SAAB. For what its worth though, The V6 Saab cost about as much as the BMW 335i. The old V6 Saab was MUCH more expensive than the 4 cylinder Turbo Saab, and somehow it eats about as much gasoline as most V8's...

As much as I LOVE saab, the above is the reason I do not own one. The acceleration just isn't there for your money.

the bmw 335 is one of the fastes 300 bhp cars and the accelaration from 0-200 is extremely fast. the 335 benefits from a fantastic gear that improves the 0-200 time with 2-3 seconds compared to many other cars, but in a duel on the highway where you only change from 4. to 5. gear that advantaged is almost gone. The saab profits from that.

according to different tests a bmw 335 needs about 14-15 sec to accelerate from 100-200 km/h. In a video on youtube: saab 93 275bhp v6 hirsh accelaration, the saab accelarates from 100-195 km/h in about 12.5 sec. So it seems likely that the saab in this video with 280 bhp ( as we also see ) will be able to keep up with the fast 335.

@derbigpr500 you have definitely fallen into the massive advertising that BMW does to promote their cars. I agree, they are powerful and beautifully styled cars. but why do people care about comfort, quietness, or luxury.. IT IS A MACHINE. you buy a car for its engineering, not for its interior (btw i really like saabs). besides, saab competes well considering its smaller engine, lower cost and yes.. better fuel economy. plus it is safe and can handle snow
